William Blaine Luard, ha scritto il libro &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;"Where The Tides Meet"&lt;/span&gt; che narra diverse vicende lagate alla sua esperienza di yachtsman. Il capitolo seguente è dedicato ad una breve ma travagliata crociera a bordo di Gometra durante il trasferimento da Falmouth a Bangor dove divenne di L. L'autore è Charles Rawling con l'aiuto del famoso designer navale William J. Rouè. porta il nome di un piccolo isolotto al largo di Mull. Ha iniziato la sua carriera agonistica nelle regate di Firth of Clyde con base a Port Bannatyne. Nel 1928, durante la West Highland Race a Inverary l'ammiraglio rimasto vedovo ha incontrato la sua seconda moglie e nel 1930 con Gometra hanno navigato verso sud prima a Falmouth in Cornovaglia e successivamente a Lymington nell’Hampshire, dove però &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gomerta&lt;/span&gt; si dimostrò troppo grande per il suo ormeggio sul fiume.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gometra è quindi stata acquistata dal tenente William Blaine Luard, un velista di talento, navigatore e scrittore che &lt;a href="http://gometra1925.blogspot.com/2009/12/dal-libro-where-tides-meet-di-l-luard.html"&gt;ha elogiato le virtù veliche di &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; nel suo libro &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;“Where The Tides Meet”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;. Successivamente &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; divenne di L. Reynolds che la trasferì a Bangor, Gwynedd nello Stretto di Manai, Fu probabilmente in questo periodo che furono fatte alcune modifiche e le sue fiancate furono portate dal blu originale al bianco.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Nel 1939 quando al Seconda Guerra Mondiale era iniziata &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; fu riportata in Scozia, a Greenoco vicino a Glasgow, era di proprietà di James F. Lang ma quando la Norvegia venne attaccata dai Nazisti il destino di &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; divenne chiaro. Fu scelta per trasportare al sicuro in Canada le riserve d’oro della Corona Norvegese, fu caricata sul cargo &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Bra Kra&lt;/span&gt; con il suo equipaggio in stand-by per poter proseguire a vela verso la salvezza nel caso il cargo fosse stato affondato dagli U-Boats.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ad Halifax, compiuto il suo dovere e portato il prezioso carico fuori dalla portata di Hitler, fu comprata dal Commodoro del Royal Yacht Sqadron Nova Scotia Ernes A. Bell e ricominciò a guadagnare la lode di molti appassionati di vela tra cui Charles Rawlings. Quest’ultimo ha scritto su &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; in &lt;a href="http://gometra1925.blogspot.com/2009/11/articolo-di-yachting-del-1941.html"&gt;un articolo per la rivista Yachting Magazine nel 1941&lt;/a&gt;. Rawlings e l’allora skipper di &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt;, il famoso Architetto navale William J. Rouè, hanno faticato non poco a ricostruirne la storia travagliata&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dopo la guerra che è stata chiesta dal Royal Yacht Club di Vancouver ed ha fatto il suo viaggio verso la costa ovest con le Canadian Pacific Railway. Ha passato molti anni felici come ammiraglia del Club partecipando annualmente alla serie delle Swiftsure Race. Spesso in queste occasioni erano ospiti a bordo alti dignitari come la Regina d'Inghilterra Elisabeth II. Nel 1948 è di proprietà di Elmer Palmer e di Ken Glass che sottoposero Gometra ad un importante restauro, è stato durante questo periodo che nel 1952 l’architetto navale Ben Seaborn disegnò &lt;a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/proust2000/4074166715/"&gt;il nuovo piano velico&lt;/a&gt; e restituì lo scafo al suo originario blu profondo.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Elmer Palmer vendette &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; nel 1973 allo scozzese di nascita, David Millis che partecipa alla  regata transpacifica dal Canada alle Hawaii Victoria-Maui del 1976 e alle Swiftsure races nel 1978 compiendo una piccola odissea tra Canada, Hawaii e California che ha portato &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; fino alle acque del Messico. Nella suo nuova base a Baja California, &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; ha continuato ad attirare sguardi ammirati e a trionfare nella regata di casa, la Bandaras Bay International Regatta.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I problemi di salute del proprietario hanno costretto &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; ad una pausa di alcuni anni nella sua attività ed è stato nel buco nero di La Paz, "Port of Illusions" che Molly Holt ha fatto la sua conoscenza. Dopo un anno di lavori, nonostante le interruzioni dovute agli uragani Ignacio e il più pesante Marty, grazie all'aiuto dell’amico Yohan, Molly assieme ai due figli Ishbel e Arran, al fedele cane e &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; erano pronti a partire per una crociera sul Mar di Cortez.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Da quel momento &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;Gometra&lt;/span&gt; ha percorso circa 2500 miglia lungo le coste del Messico, del Guatemala e di El Salvador. Rimasta poi per alcuni anni a Bahia del Sol dopo che i figli di Molly si sono “ammutinati” pretendendo una vita meno nomade.
